Stunning pole position and victory in race-2 for Maranello North America with Mikko Laine and team Prime Motorsport in DD2 Masters at the second round of the Florida Winter Tour held in Orlando. Great race also for Robert Wickens, third behind Rubens Barrichello, in DD2.
Maranello Kart obtained an amazing result at the Florida Winter Tour in the second race held at the Orlando Kart Center. Following the excellent result obtained in Miami, where Mikko Laine took the podium, the Finn driver of Maranello Kart shone again in Orlando claiming the pole position and taking the victory in DD2 Master's race-2.
Maranello Kart's colors have been defended on track by Maranello North America and team Prime Motorsport led by team manager Trevor Wickens, with the support of Alessandro Levratti from the Italian branch. The weekend of Orlando has been great despite the weather conditions that troubled a bit due to the rain and cold weather of Saturday, but that improved on Sunday allowing drivers to compete in better conditions.
THE VICTORY OF MIKKO LAINE. Very quick since qualifying, where he set the pole position and the third time in the two qualifying sessions, Mikko Laine has come to the fore on Sunday after the tenth place scored on Saturday in the wet final due to a problem to the engine caused by water. In the second day he could in fact get the most out of the Maranello chassis taking a fair and square victory in the Final, that he led from the sixth of the sixteen laps.
The Canadian Stuart Clark also put in a great performance in DD2 Masters for Maranello Kart. On Saturday he won the Prefinal and took P8 in the Final due to a contact when 6 laps were left to go. On Sunday he ended fourth in the Prefinal behind Mikko Laine and seventh in the Final after a great run from the back where he had slipped due to another contact.
The other Canadian of Maranello Kart in DD2 Masters, Elvis Stojko, run some solid races too, as he ended race-1 in P7 and raec-2 in P8.
Another excellent result in DD2 was scored by the Canadian Robert Wickens in race-1. He ended in fact third behind Rubens Barrichello at the end of an exciting duel with the former F1 driver from Brazil. Wickens was unfortunately forced to the retirement in race-2, when he was all set to get another good result. Fred Woodley obtained two solid sixth places in the DD2 Finals instead.
The Florida Winter Tour will resume with the Ocala Grand Prix scheduled for next 27 - 29 March.
