MARANELLO AT THE ZUERA ROTAX
Double duty: the same weekend Maranello was on track at the Italian CSAI Karting Championship, it also went to Zuera for the the Rotax Euro Challenge, lining up Dario Santoro and Fred Woodley in DD2.
The Rotax Euro Challenge went to Spain for round three. Maranello is on track with the official KCL Racing team, represented by drivers Dario Santoro and Fred Woodley.
Santoro proves to have great speed and experience with top level racing. He sets the 7th fastest time in the qualifyings and is 10th after the heats, then in the prefinal he does a good job of defending himself and ends 9th. The final also bids well, until a contact sends Dario down the field and relegates him to 14th at the finish-line.
Bad luck also strikes upon Woodley. The Canadian is supported by Trevor Wichens, Maranello North America Team Manager and official importer of Maranello products for the USA and Canada, and seems to grow increasingly comfortable with the Spanish track and with European karting throughout the qualification phase. In the prefinal, Fred then does his best and rises nicely to 9th.
Unfortunately, his performance is voided after the race when his kart is found to be underweight. By the time the final comes, Woodley’s luck runs out completely: his engine fails and he can’t participate to the race. It’s a shame, but the Zuera experience will surely help the Maranello driver in the future.
