Denis Gorman took the Maranello RS12 to a win in heat 2 and final 1 on Sunday at Larkhall.
Unfortunately a 10 second penalty for Gorman in final 2 demoted him to 7th place from an original 2nd behind local guest driver Stefan DiResta. The penalty for Gorman arose from a questionable pass under yellows that the officials initially dismissed during the race but one or two of Gorman's competitors didn’t accept that and lodged a post-race protest. An unsuccessful appeal by Gorman meant he ended up with the 10 second penalty. Gorman is now 2 points behind main championship rival Tom Healy with Jonathan Davis only 11 points behind Gorman.
Changing conditions all weekend made all the S1 mechanics work harder than normal.
LP Tent Motorsport drivers Stephen Philip and Fraser Wallace had mixed luck all weekend. Philip was among the quickest in the wet conditions during practice but had some bad luck in the heats and finals. This meant that despite the strong pace both Stephen and Fraser showed in testing and during Friday practice they had a hard weekend.
John Pike unfortunately suffered mechanical problems all day Sunday until the final when John’s trademark tremendous pace put him a creditable 5th in final 2.
The next round of MSA Super One goes to Glan-Y-Gors in North Wales on the 27th-29th July.
